Estate Administration

Estate Administration

BACK TO Estates & Trusts

When a person passes away, their estate assets must be transferred to their chosen beneficiaries through the appropriate legal process. Estate administration involves collecting assets of the estate, paying the decedent’s debts and taxes, complying with county probate requirements and distributing the remaining assets. Estate administration typically presents many post-mortem tax planning opportunities, which must be analyzed and implemented within a short time frame after a decedent's death. Without an understanding of the estate administration process and related legal and tax matters, the experience can be overwhelming. However, at Culp Elliott & Carpenter, our clients receive a seamless array of estate administration services from a team of experienced professionals.

We Provide:

  • Representation of executors and trustees in all aspects of estate and trust administration
  • Counseling to beneficiaries of an estate or trust on legal, tax and financial issues
  • Post-mortem tax planning to minimize income and estate taxes
  • Distribution of assets to beneficiaries and heirs
  • Representation in federal estate tax audits and controversies
  • Preparation of federal estate tax returns (IRS Form 706)

Our experienced professionals handle estate administration on a daily basis and have the expertise to deftly administer estates and put clients’ worries at ease. Administration of an estate is complex, but with our knowledgeable advisors, the process becomes clear and easier to navigate.
